Capt. Mike Tarman was both
at  Cu Chi and Tay Ninh (MP
Stations at right) and was the
CO of the 25th MP Co. at Cu
Chi.
Hundreds of workers came onto the military bases in the morning.  It was the duty of the MPs to ensure that no contraband was brought onto
base to include weapons and drugs.  Most of these workers were necessary and vital, but security of the bases was of the utmost importance.
MPs observe a demonstration that took place outside of the base at Tay Ninh.
What were they demonstrating against?  A dispute over an ice contract award for the base
.

be a good spot to get shot at?

Argh!  A ticket.  Yes, traffic control was needed in Vietnam.
There were hundreds of traffic accidents resulting in death,
injury or destruction of private property.
864 troops died in Vietnam as the result of non-hostile
vehicle losses or crashes.

IN MEMORY OF GORDON "GORDY" SHAW
Gordon A.
Shaw, left,
with his best
friend Tim
Hippensteel.
Gordon was killed in May of 1970 while on convoy with the 4th
Infantry Division in Binh Dinh Province.  Gordon received the Bronze
Star for valor.  His best buddy, fellow MP Tim Hippensteel, right,
writes these words:  "We were high school friends drafted together in
1969.  We raised some real hell together.  Gordy was a Golden
Gloves boxer.  We'll meet again, good buddy".
